Why give up buying new stuff for a year? At our initial meeting, we discussed several reasons for doing it. For most of us, we want to simplify our lives in order to grow in community with our Creator and with others.
We recognize the environmental benefits–not only in saving the earth, but also being better stewards of God’s creation.
We also recognize the financial benefits–not only in saving our pocketbooks, but also being better stewards of our money, in order to give more generously.
Many of us would also like to explore the idea of “inward simplicity” (desiring stuff less, desiring God more, centering ourselves on God).
Thanks so much, Jessie, for creating this space for us to share ideas and resources. I look forward to the learning and sharing to come!
Peace out,
Casie
